Hypnosis is a fascinating field, though it’s not widely used in psychotherapy anymore. I’ve explored self-hypnosis and considered revisiting it. While some in the psychotherapy community are skeptical, I find it similar to techniques like EMDR and brain spotting, which induce trance-like states.
I began a training program I initially enjoyed, but the environment became challenging due to the director's unconventional beliefs, such as talking to dead ancestors and promoting conspiracy theories during class. Entity attachment is a big issue in the IFS and psychedelic field as well. It’s a terraijn that can be difficult to navigate as a survivor — differentiating between psychological and spiritual phenomenon. Although many hypnotists work with integrity, my experiences with healers have been mixed, often complicated by their unhealed issues.
Despite the challenges of healing from complex PTSD, I feel empowered by developing my hypnosis and EMDR skills. I believe in teaching these skills to others and am committed to a compassionate approach to healing and supporting one another.
I love how your own healing lead you to connect the dots with hypnosis in a way you didn’t before. I love that you are sharing your gift with so many others. A gift that is so powerful and unique to you because of so many years of suffering. I have already seen so many benefits from hypnosis with you and look forward to continuing. 🩶
This is so inspiring, Rhaine! I love that you chose to train in hypnosis as you near 70—and even more so, the heartfelt WHY behind it. I'm also familiar with that heavy, daunting feeling—the mistaken belief that meaningful change demands years of “painful excavation”. It can stop us in our tracks, almost like "why begin?" when a healing journey can feel overwhelmingly epic.
This line especially moved me: "Now, what lives in me is something else: A new sense of self. Purpose. A quiet pursuit of meaning."
That says it all. Wishing you continued purpose and discovery—and thank you for showing us that it's never too late to break cycles, learn something new, and contribute in such a powerful way.
Oh Rhaine! Wanting more than just to survive…I feel that so deeply. And I also empathize deeply with the desire to do something that helps others achieve that big, full existence. I cannot wait to see how this unfolds for you and all that you touch in the process.
In my way of looking at life, you needed to go through the search for healing that you did to get to this place where you can now help others. Ultimately, it makes you a better guide for those of us on our own path of healing. As one of those you are working with to gain your certification hours, I can say what a gentle and deeply gifted person you are to work with. I am very grateful to have this opportunity. 💕
I love that you mention self-hypnosis. One of the things I am doing with clients is teach an easy version of it so they can continue receiving the benefits of hypnosis between sessions. Thank you for reading and commenting. I appreciate your support. Best of luck to you! :)

Thank you Heidi. That saying is so true, "it's never too late". And now, getting up there in years, I get to live it, lol. xx
